Holiday Gift Guide: For The Beauty Guru

To bring the week to an end I saved my favorite gift guide for last. Today i'll be talking about some great gifts to get for the makeup lover in your life. There are few things that I enjoy like browsing through makeup products and continuing to grow my collection. If you know anyone who feels the same way I can tell you that they would be thrilled to receive anything from this list!

Every girl loves a bold lip from time to time and if you are in search of the perfect red look no further! This shade is so flattering on almost all skin tones and the formula is amazing. When Sephora gave this away in a duo for their birthday gift last year I was thrilled! It's one of the few matte lip products I can wear all evening without my lips getting too dry.

There is something so great about deluxe sized or mini makeup products. If you have a decent sized collection like me this means that you are likely to actually finish a product {which is always an exciting feeling}. I've only ever tried one of Buxom's lip creams in White Russian but I can tell you that the formula was everything you could want in a lip gloss. This set has almost every color you could ever need, any beauty lover would be so happy to unwrap this gift.

You can never have too many makeup bags, am I right? This one in particular has such an adorable saying on it and I can guarantee that the beauty guru in your life would get a good laugh out of it. The size is perfect for filling with all of your products that are necessary to get someone through the day. The overall appearance is so nice that it could even be used as a cute clutch for a fun night out!

You guys this is my new favorite lip balm! I was sent one by the lovely owner of the company {who happens to be a college aged #girlboss} and have fallen in love the minute I tried it. The owner, Glynnis, hand makes these products using beeswax that is harvested from her own backyard! The product itself is super hydrating but unbelievably light, it doesn't feel like you have a heavy product sitting on your lips.

These gold limited edition brushes by Morphe are so beautiful! There's nothing quite like having a great set of brushes, and having this entire collection would be a thing of beauty. The morphe brand is known for their exceptional makeup brush quality and i'm sure this line is no exception! Buffer brushes are always my personal favorite, but there are so many great options to choose from.

I've always wanted to try a blush or highlight product from Too Faced, so this mini kit would be the perfect opportunity. The brand is known for their high quality products so any girl would be happy to receive this. It includes one of their famous 16-hour blushes, a luminous bronzer, highlighting powder, and an adorable mini flatbuki brush. For only $25 this is a major deal!

If you pay attention to makeup trends or watch any type of beauty YouTube videos you have heard of the beauty blender. This product has become a cult favorite since it first hit the market. This particular set includes two of the beauty blender original with some of the liquid cleanser. Whether or not your beauty guru friend has a beauty blender this would be the perfect gift because they have to be replaced every so often due to germs. This way she has some back stock and this particular cleanser is supposed to be the best way to keep your blender clean.

I hope you enjoyed all of the gift posts shared this week. It was so much fun surfing the web every night trying to find some great gifts for the different types of people in our lives. What type of gifts are you purchasing for others this holiday season?

Holiday Gift Guide: For The Style Icon

Welcome to day 4 of the Holiday Gift Guide series! Today I am sharing with you my 2nd favorite guide that i've created {stay tuned for my favorite which will be revealed tomorrow} and it's all about that friend who is fashion obsessed. She always has the best outfits and seems to be a step ahead of the latest trends. Sometimes this type of friend can be hard to shop for, so I hope you get some ideas from this post.

I may be biased since I wear my own LYM beanie religiously and also am a campus rep for the company... but I would never recommend something I didn't think was worth the money! These beanies are perfect for the cold months because they are so thick and cozy. There are so many styles to choose from and page after page of color options. If your anything like me you'll have a hard time deciding which one to choose as a gift.

If you don't follow Melsy's Illustrations account on Instagram you are really missing out. She creates some amazing pieces of art, just like this one! Any fashion lover will love the iconic brands featured in this colorful print. If this isn't quite what you are looking for she has 150 options on her website that includes other goodies like mugs, pillows, and cosmetic cases.

These compression leggings are the perfect way to add a trendy element into workout clothing or loungewear. Chances are this girl would never go to the gym in an old pair of shorts and a t-shirt so this would be a great option for her. I personally own a pair of workout leggings similar to this and I love wearing them everywhere from the gym to running errands and even just for hanging around the house.

Tassel's were huge this summer and they don't seem to be going anywhere in the near future. This particular style from BaubleBar has over 15 color options that include everything from this stunning light pink to some great pops of color and even a pair that is iridescent rainbow. These earrings will be the perfect statement piece to add that special touch to any outfit.

If you've paid attention to social media lately you would know that this is the scarf of the season! It seems like everyone is wearing this chunky piece draped around their neck. If your fashionable friend doesn't have this piece yet she will be thrilled to receive it! Scarves are the perfect winter accessory because they're both cute and functional, that's the making of a perfect gift in my mind.

Holiday Gift Guide: For The Girl Boss

We all have that one friend who is a total #GirlBoss. Somehow she manages to keep an amazing GPA, look fabulous, be involved in everything, and still maintain a social life. This girl is pretty much running the world! Someone like this can be hard to shop for, but don't worry today i'm going to give you some ideas she'll be sure to love.

This is the perfect bag to carry your life around in. There is plenty of room in here making it the perfect bag to use for work, school, or just a good old shopping trip. The classic silhouette is sure to be something anyone would love.

No girl boss can make it through life {let alone a day} without jotting notes down in her planner or favorite notebook. Instead of a boring old pen she will love the adorable sayings that come in this set. Not to mention they are Instagram worthy, something she is sure to appreciate.

This gift depends on what stage in life your friend is at. If she has business cards she is sure to love this stainless steel holder. In true Kate Spade fashion the 'let's do lunch' saying is sure to bring a smile to her face every time she pulls it out.

Nothing says success to me like the perfect bar cart. Of course this can't be achieved without an adorable cocktail shaker. This option is super sleek and comes in various finishes like copper {pictured above}, stainless steel, graphite, and gold.

If this girl is as busy as she seems this will be the perfect accessory for her. This one by Cluse is super sleek and the muted colors make it perfect for any outfit. Best of all, it's something she will use everyday.

Everyone loves an adorable iPhone case, especially when an adorable leather one from Kate Spade. The wrap folio style is the perfect way to add a professional and chic touch to your average piece of technology.

Holiday Gift Guide: For Him

Welcome to Day 2 of my holiday gift guide! Today we are talking about the guys in your life. I don't know about you, but I always find it on the challenging side to pick out the perfect gift for guys. I hope this gift guide helps make the shopping process a little bit easier. Whether these gifts are for your dad, brother, or boyfriend they are sure to be a hit!
This is such a great gift idea for the man who loves options when it comes to his business accessories. Inside of this handy box there are three silk ties, 3 pocket squares, and two pairs of socks. There are a ton of different colors and patterns to choose from and you can also get the box in a smaller size.

If this doesn't scream man cave I don't know what does. It would be such a cool idea to bring a beer cap back from every state you travel to and try to fill this whole map in! This gift also has the option to come in the shape of a specific state rather than the USA Map version.

This pullover from Patagonia looks like the most comfortable piece of clothing! This is the kind of present I would get for my boyfriend with the hopes of getting to wear it at certain points because it looks so warm and cozy.

If your guy loves music these are the best speakers to get him. Everyone these days is buying speakers from Bose and for a good reason. Not only is the sound quality great but this particular speaker is portable and can be hooked up to your phone through bluetooth.

I am such a fan of this style belt when worn on guys. It's preppy, fun, and all around a great looking addition to any outfit. In fact, I may have gotten something similar as a gift for my own boyfriend!

I bought this about two years ago and thought it was such a great gift! The set comes with 15 samples of the most popular colognes at Sephora as well as a voucher. Your guy can test out the different scents and then he can bring in the voucher it comes with to get a full size of his favorite.

Holiday Gift Guide: For The Girls

There's only fourteen more days until Christmas, where has the year gone?! The holiday season is such a great time because everywhere you go you see such great gifts for the loved ones in your life. Since I {finally} finished all of my holiday shopping yesterday I decided to create some gift guides for everyone who still has some people left to shop for. This week I am excited be sharing various gift guides for the different types of people in your life.

For the first gift guide it's all about the girls. Whether they are your bestie, roommate, or both these gifts are a perfect way to show how much you appreciate their friendship. Everything is also under $50 so you don't need to worry about spending your entire holiday budget on just one person. I've already picked up two items from this list and cannot wait to give them to some special friends!

What girl doesn't love Kendra Scott? These necklaces are the perfect everyday piece and there are so many color options available that there is an option for everyone.

These pouches are a recent discovery and they are too cute! There are a variety of colors and each one has an adorable saying etched onto the front. Their the perfect little bag to use as a fun evening clutch.

If you've ever been in an Anthropologie you've seen these candles scattered throughout the store. The scents are so yummy and the jars are a gorgeous piece to decorate any space with.

If there is one thing I love to get during the cold winter months it's adorable slipper boots. This pair not only looks super comfy but is easy on the eyes with the pom pom detail.

Mugs are a foolproof gift, but they're also something that people love to get. There's nothing like sipping some hot coco out of a cute mug during the winter months. The saying on this one is perfect because it's not strictly Christmas related.

This might just be my favorite thing on the list. Lately everybody has been loving faux fur throws and this one is not only extremely soft but it has great detail thanks to the texture. Any friend of yours would be thrilled to snuggle up in this throw!

November Recap and December Blogging Goals

It's finally December! Time to break out the Christmas decorations and get into the holiday spirit. November is quite a busy month with it being the end of the fall trimester {aka projects and finals for days...} but I was still able to accomplish almost all of the goals that I set for the month.

November Goals:
Instagram: Reach 250 followers
Comment on 20 Instagram photos
Twitter: Reach 330 followers
Participate in at least 1 Twitter chat
Page Views {for the month}: 250
Post at least 4 times to the blog

I'm really glad that I set the goal to comment on at least 20 Instagram photos. I always like other peoples photos but have a bad habit of never commenting. I realized how much I love when others take the time to leave a comment on my own photos so I decided to spread the love.

High: Not only was I able to get my page views up from where they've been recently, but I got the highest number of page views i've ever had in a month! Since heading back to school I haven't been posting quite as frequently, but i'm working on getting back there. Watching those page views increase was great because it's really helped motivate me to get back into blogging consistently. It was also so fun participating in the #BloggingCollege twitter chat! Over the summer I did a few of these chats but I kind of fell off that wagon in that area. It was so good to get back to it. All of the girls are so nice and it left me feeling inspired and ready to get stuff done!

Low: With finals week occurring at the end of November I had to put blogging on the back burner for longer than I would have liked. I was hoping to get at least four posts up this month but I didn't quite reach that. However I was able to spend some time brainstorming content for the upcoming months!

December Goals:
Instagram: Reach 300 followers
Twitter: Reach 375 followers
Page Views {for the month}: 350
Comment on at least 15 blog posts
Post at least 4 times to the blog
Upload an outfit post {aka take pictures for my an outfit post}

For December i'm just working on keeping the momentum going! I feel like i'm {slowly} growing In An Organized fashion into the blog that I want it to be. The most important thing is learning to balance this with the rest of my commitments. It was so much easier writing posts throughout the summer when I didn't have the responsibilities that come with school.

My main goal this month is to take pictures for an outfit post. I'm not the most comfortable person in front of a camera and don't have anyone to take pictures for me at the moment so i've been putting it off. I plan on investing in a tripod and either taking them myself or asking my root to do it for me. Any suggestions? I'd love to hear any tips or pieces of advice you may have for taking outfit pictures for your blog!

What are your goals for the Holiday season? Don't forget to check out the goals that all of these lovely ladies are working to accomplish for the month of December!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with friends, family, and food! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays but most people love the days that follow... Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Wishful Wednesday: A Touch of Velvet

For this Wishful Wednesday post I plan on trying something a little different. Instead of the usual format where I list the pictures and do a little explanation I have created a widget so that you can scroll through all the different pieces i'm wishing for.

The 90's are back in full force with everything from scrunchies to chokers and even velvet. While it took me a while to get on board with this last one i'm loving the little touches of it that can easily add something to an outfit. For today's post I picked my favorite simple pieces that will help add that 90's vibe to your outfit without looking like you stepped out of a time machine.

What is your favorite way to add a touch of velvet to your outfit?

I'd love to know what you think about this format in comparison to past Wishful Wednesday posts. I appreciate your comments!

October Recap and November Blogging Goals

Happy November! Can you believe yet another month has passed by? Once again i'm excited to share with you a recap of my October goals as well as the goals I have set for the month of November. I love being a part of this link up created by Angela and Jazmine because it is the perfect way to hold myself accountable while encouraging other bloggers to reach their goals! Now let's get onto how October went and what I'm hoping to accomplish for the month of November.

October Goals
Instagram: Reach 250 followers
Post to Instagram at least 7 times
Twitter: Reach 300 followers
Facebook: Reach 110 likes
Pinterest: Reach 600 followers
Reach 5,200 pins on Pinterest
Page Views {for the month} 400
Post at least 4 blog posts this month
Create and upload a header {I created the header I want but haven't been able to hook up my computer to my printer/scanner yet to scan it...}

I'd say that October was a pretty successful month! My highs for the month were finally being able to focus on my blog a bit more. While i'm still not able to spend the amount of time that I would like to, with school and cross country I did as well as I could have. Getting 4 posts up for the month was a good starting point so this month i'm hoping to continue or expand on that number. Another high was once again with Pinterest! I'm not sure how but I gained over 500 new followers this month. It was pretty exciting to watch the number grow!

My lows for the month were still the number of page views I received. I realized that I need to stop focusing on this because right now i'm not posting a lot of content which is a major reason why i'm not getting the number of visitors that I would like. In the end I need to realize that this number doesn't matter, I blog because I love it!

November Goals:
Instagram: Reach 250 followers
Comment on 20 Instagram photos
Twitter: Reach 330 followers
Participate in at least 1 Twitter chat
Page Views {for the month}: 250
Post at least 4 times to the blog

For my November goals I focused a bit more on being active in the blogging community. I want to make sure I spend time commenting on others Instagram photos and also participate in a Twitter chat. I would love to create some friendships with other bloggers and figure this is the best way to start that! I also decided to take Pinterest off of my goals because I finally have a handle on that platform and am happy with where I am.

What are your goals for the month? Don't forget to check out the other lovely bloggers in this collab to see what they hope to accomplish for the month of October!

Bedroom Tour

Back in August I officially moved into my first apartment! It was such an exciting thing for me because not only do I consider that to be a milestone, but I had no furniture which meant I was starting from scratch. This meant I got to go on my first trip to Ikea {which was amazing...} and pick out bedroom furniture that i will love for years to come! Even though it's been about two months everything is just starting to get put into its proper place. Last year I had so much fun taking pictures of my bedroom to share with you all so I thought it would be fun to do it again this year.

If you've ever been on my Pinterest and seen my home decor boards you would know that I love the clean look of a white or gray bedroom. That's why when I first started looking for bedroom furniture I knew that I wanted it all to be white. It adds a very relaxing feel to the room and makes everything look so sleek.

My bed is hands down my favorite part of my room. Not only do the comforter and bed frame look adorable but the mattress is hands down the most comfortable thing i've ever slept on. Chances are if i'm home you can find me relaxing in my bed watching Netflix or working on blog posts and homework. The comforter is a focal point in the room since everything else is very neutral. It's a Tommy Hilfiger set that I got at Marshal's last year so i've linked a similar option if you like it!

Bed Frame // Comforter {Similar} // Elephant Pillow {Similar} // Fur Rug // Wall Mirrors
Golden K {Similar} // Pumpkin {from the Target dollar section} // Lamp {Similar}

If i'm not in my bed you'll find me sitting at my desk. I've wanted a hutch over my desk for a few years now so i'm so thrilled that I was able to get one that matches seamlessly with my desk. This is where I get some of my school work done {I do the majority of it at the library}. I never used to do any work at my desks because the chairs would always hurt my back after an hour or two but this chair is so comfy that I have no problems with sore backs while i'm studying.

It was kind of hard to get a good picture of my dresser because of the window right there, but I did the best I could. Next to my dresser I have my gallery wall and little makeup area where I get ready every morning. I was so excited to put up my mini gallery wall because i've been wanting one for a while but was never able to put nails into my walls before {good old dorm living}.

Dresser {Similar}  // Jewelry Box {Similar} // Bracelet Holder // Earring Holder // Candle

Lastly I have my closet! I tend to keep the doors open because I love seeing all of my clothes neatly organized. I added some old string lights I had around the top to brighten things up a bit. I use pull out storage bins to hold my smaller accessories {like belts, headbands, and running gear} and all of my workout clothes. I love organizing my closet, it's always the first thing I go to when i'm cleaning my room. My favorite way to keep my clothes organized is to group them by sleeve length and then color coordinate them. It sounds like a tedious task but it makes getting ready in the morning a breeze!

I hope you enjoyed this look into my room at school!

Wishful Wednesday: Distressed Denim

Denim is such a classic piece that i'm always looking for new ways to make it fun and a little different. That's where the trend of distressed denim comes into play. Now i've been a fan of distressed jeans for a few months now but i'm also loving the distressed denim jackets that i've been seeing all over Pinterest and Instagram. With fall {and winter} quickly approaching I think these pieces are perfect for pairing with cozy knits and riding boots.

Vigoss Distressed Skinny Jeans

For this weeks Wishful Wednesday post I did something a little new. I feel like I repeat myself so much under each picture that I decided to skip over the explanation for each picture and simply link the item. I'd love to get some feedback on whether you liked this format better or preferred when there was an explanation underneath each picture detailing why I love it.

My Everyday Brow Routine

I was recently introduced to this article on Into the Gloss about how to fill in your brows. Over the past year it seems like brows have become such an important part of everyone makeup routine. I know that I personally love filling in my eyebrows because I feel like doing so really helps frame my face. On minimal makeup days I typically apply bronzer, mascara, fill in my eyebrows and then i'm done!

Today I thought it might be fun to share with you my own eyebrow routine. It's quite simple and I use a lot of drugstore products so I am excited to show you what I do to get my brows ready for the day.

My collection of brow products has grown quite a bit over the year. While i've gone through multiple brow pencils the one that I am using {and loving} at the moment is the ELF pencil. It's a great color match and the pencil is creamy enough that it is easy to use. I've also been loving the ELF eyebrow kit for quite some time {you can see through the packaging that i've made quite a dent in it}. To set my brows i'll either use the clear NYX Control Freak gel or the Essence Make Me Brow. I just recently picked up the Essence gel and am hoping it is a good dupe for the Benefit Gimme Brow.

Step 1: Brush The Brows
The first step I always do is to brush my brows. Doing this helps get all of the hairs in the right place and makes sure that I have the right shape to start filling everything in.

Step 2: Fill Your Brows In
Next I fill everything in! I alternate between using a pencil and using a wax. Lately i've been leaning towards the pencil because I think it gives me a bit more of a natural look. I start towards the middle of my brow and do the tail end first. This is where I apply the product the darkest, as I move towards the head of the brow I make my strokes lighter to give things a natural look. I've noticed that applying too much pressure at the head of the brow makes things look a little harsh for my everyday look.

Step 3: Set Your Brows With A Gel
Once I get everything looking the way I want it too I brush through the brows one last time to help blend and soften the color. Then I choose my brow gel for the day and use a few upward strokes to help set everything in place.

While I am not highly skilled at makeup by any means I feel like I have found a brow routine that works well for me. It took a lot of trial and error to get where I am but I find myself pleased with the end results.

What are your tips for doing your brows?

September Recap and October Blogging Goals

Happy October! I feel like I say this every month but I can't believe how fast September went by. It was a slow month as far as blogging went {again} but I am finally starting to get adjusted. It took me a lot longer than I anticipated to get settled into my new schedule but now i'm ready to get back to blogging. I have a few fun posts in the works that I can't wait to share with all of you!

September Goals
Instagram: Reach 200 followers
Use Instagram Story at least twice
Twitter: Reach 270 followers
Facebook: Reach 110 likes
Pinterest: Reach 500 followers
Reach 4,000 pins on Pinterest
Page Views {for the month} 400

My September goals went a lot better than my August ones! I'm not going to lie when I was writing last months recap I was super upset with how little progress I had made. I know that life gets in the way but it was just frustrating to see. That's why I am even more excited that I was able to reach almost all of my goals for the month of September.

This months high once again involves social media followers. You guys... somehow I gained over 50 Instagram followers in a day and over 250 Pinterest followers throughout the month! Watching my social media channels grow this month was a definite high. I can't wait to watch the numbers continue to grow.

My low for the month is that I had a lot of posts scheduled out that I wasn't able to post when I wanted too. I would write something out and then struggle with taking pictures for the post. I've noticed that is where I have the most trouble, writing it out is not a problem but I never seem to take pictures that i'm proud of {i'm thinking of investing in a better camera, let me know if you have any recommendations!}.

October Goals
Instagram:Reach 250 followers
Post to Instagram at 7 times
Twitter:Reach 300 followers
Facebook: Reach 110 likes
Pinterest: Reach 600 followers
Reach 5,200 pins on Pinterest
Page Views {for the month} 400
Post at least 4 blog posts this month
Create and upload a header

While most of my goals for the month focus on social media I added a few more miscellaneous goals that I would like to accomplish. I've been wanting to spruce up my blog design for a long time so i'm hoping that this month I can make a few changes to get the process started.

Wishful Wednesday: Utility-Inspired Jackets

Wow it's been a long time since I last wrote a Wishful Wednesday post {or any post for that matter...}! It's been a lot harder than I thought adjusting to my new class schedule so I apologize for the lack of posts recently. I'm working on pre-writing a bunch so that I can be prepared for days or weeks where I feel overwhelmed.

Anyway! A trend i've been loving since last year has been the utility inspired jackets. Maybe it's because I love this muted olive green but I can't help but look for this style jacket every time I go shopping. There are so many takes on this look {sleeveless, camo, parka...} and I love them all! Check out a few of my favorites below.

I love this caramel color that Gap offers in the utility jacket because it's a great autumn neutral that is a bit different from the popular olive color. The shoulder tabs are such a fun detail that make me think of not only utility jackets but military-inspired ones as well. I think this would look great with a striped long sleeve tee and some booties for a comfy fall day.

If you are looking for something that is a little different than the traditional utility jacket then I think this Free People option is for you. Not only does it come in the classic olive green but it is available in camo and maroon as well. I personally love the fun pattern that the camo adds, it would look great with something as simple as a white tee and your favorite pair of jeans.

When I think of a utility jacket this is exactly the style I picture in my mind. It is very classic and does not have a lot of added details or frills which makes it a timeless piece. This would be a great jacket to invest in because not only does it come in regular and petite sizes but it is machine washable and can be put in the dryer.

While most of the jackets I looked at have a drawstring waist something about the way this once cinches looks super flattering on the model. It may just be the angle the picture is taken at but I can't help but want to try it on because of that. For someone who gets lost in jackets easily this added detail can make a huge difference.

Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere always finds a way to turn classic pieces into something on trend yet still very wearable. All summer I was noticing the sleeveless vests and dusters so I am so excited to see that she released a utility vest. I love a good vest {puffer vests and sweatshirts are my go-to library outfits} and think this would be a great piece to add to your closet because not only will it work for fall but you can make it work for the transition into spring as well!

This particular jacket looks a bit different from the others that I have rounded up but there is something about it that I love! I'm not sure how it would look zipped up because there is no picture on the website but the way it lays when open is enough to make me want to include it here.

This jacket is fleece lined... need I say more? If you are looking for a great quality piece with a lifetime satisfaction guarantee then this is the perfect one to pick up {it is also less expensive than a lot of other options on the market}. If you aren't looking for something quite so heavy they also carry an un-lined version.

At only $40 this is the least expensive option on this list. Now we all know that Forever 21's quality isn't the best but if you are looking for a jacket to wear for a season {maybe two} then this is a great option to look into. I really like the fact that it has a hood because I constantly find myself wearing my hood during the late autumn days thanks to the horrible wind we have in Providence.
