My Makeup Collection: Eyes

Time for the next installment of my makeup inventory! This post will focus on all of the eye makeup that I have in my collection. I'm also including my eyebrow items in this category because I wasn't sure whether to put them here or with my face products. Since I have a lot more products in this post I won't be giving a description on every single on, just my favorites!

Just a disclaimer: I know that I have more makeup than any person needs to have.. Makeup is something that I enjoy collecting which is why I have accumulated so much. I am working on getting my collection under control!

  • Benefit Roller Lash
  • Rimmel Day 2 Night Mascara
  • Almay Once Coat Thickening Mascara
  • Bare Minerals Lash Domination Mascara
  • Lancome Lash Primer
  • Mary Kay Mascara
  • L'Oreal Voluminous Full Definition- This has become one of my favorite mascaras, and after I finish all of my others ones I will probably repurchase it! It took a while before I liked it, I think the formula had to dry up a little bit.

  • Marc Jacobs Hilghliner Gel Crayon in Black
  • Elf Liquid Liner in Brown
  • Elf Liquid Liner in Black- This is my favorite liquid liner, the brush tip is the perfect size and I really like the formula. I also find that I have really good control when I use this, and that's something I pay extra attention to because I have very shaky hands (which is not good for liquid eyeliner!).
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Liner in Bobby Dazzle
  • Rimmel Gel Liner in 002 Brown
  • CoverGirl Ink It! in 235 Gold Ink- I don't have anything like this and I love it! I wear this more than I thought I would. The only problem is that it's kinda tricky to twist the product out, and if too much is out the product breaks really easily.
  • Julep Gel Eye Glider in Smoky Taupe Shimmer
  • Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil in 18 Berry Merry
  • Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil in 02 Hot Chocolate
  • Essence Long Lasting Eyeliner in 01 Black Fever- This has become my new favorite black pencil liner. Not only is it very pigmented and affordable, but I feel like it stays in the waterline for a long time.
  • Maybelline Master Smoky in Scorching Brown

  • Elf Eyebrow Kit- I didn't like this when I first got it, but after I ran out of my NYX eyebrow pencil I tried it again and changed my mind. It's a great product for the price,
  • Milani Stay Put Brow Color in 04 Brunette

  • Almay Single Eyeshadow in 150 Smoke
  • Kiko Single Eyeshadow in 118
  • Almay Bright Eyes in 130 Nude- This is starting to get old, so i've been focusing on it lately. I finally hit pan on the top shade by using it as an eyeshadow base everyday. This is a cream to powder formula, so I find that putting it under other shadows works very well. I'm thinking of possibly putting this in my project pan relatively soon.
  • Kiko Single Eyeshadow in 116
  • Wet n' Wild Eyeshadow in Creme Brulee- This is the perfect blending color for me, and it's even better because I got it from the Dollar Store! I've made a pretty decent dent in this and think that i'll be hitting pan within the next few weeks.
  • Elf Smudge Pot in Cruisin' Chic- When I first got this I thought the color was too dark so I never used it. Recently, I pulled it out again and decided that it is the perfect base color. I love wearing this with the colors from my NYX palette in my crease.
  • Avon Eyeshadow Trio in Plum
  • Elf Jumbo Eyeshadow Stick in Turkish Delight
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion

  • Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips in Vegas Strip
  • Clinique All About Shadow Quad- I just got this last month for my birthday so I haven't used it too much, but the colors are beautiful and I don't really have anything like it.
  • Lancome Color Design in 302 Signature Walk
  • Wet n' Wild Trio in Walking On Eggshells- I bought this because I kept hearing people rave about it on Youtube, and i'm so glad that I did! These eyeshadows are amazing quality and the pigmentation is amazing.

These are all of the Elf single eyeshadows I own, I have them in the Elf custom eyeshadow quads. The back row contains (from left to right) Moondust, Teal, Taupe, Aubergine, Pink Ice. The front row (from left to right) Ivory, Sage, Wheat, Periwinkle, and Purple. I really enjoy these and find the formula to be very buttery. I got them from the elf website when they were on sale for 49 cents each, so I bought a few colors that are brighter than my everyday choices.

  • POP Beauty Palette in Lovely Lids
  • Smashbox Double Exposure- This is one of my only high end products, and I love it. I did a lot of research on this palette before buying it, and I love that the shadows can be used both dry and wet. The colors are all ones that I love and I find myself reaching for this all the time.
  • Profusion Colour Me Glow Eyeshadow Palette

** I forgot to include my NYX Natural Eyeshadow Palette, but you all have seen that in my project pan posts!**

Project Pan Update #2

Time for my second project pan update! I can't believe it's been just over a month since I started this project. I finally feel like I am making some progress in certain products. Hopefully by the next update I will have a few things finished up.

1. Rimmel London BB Cream
Still don't like this.. The only reason i've been able to handle using it is because I mix it in with my moisturizer whenever I use it. The moisturizer helps make the product less thick, and I think it helps lighten the color a little bit.

2. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
I removed the stopper from this to get every last bit! There's only a little bit left, i'm just scraping the product off the sides and then this one is all done!

3. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
I honestly thought that I would fly through this product, but it's going a lot slower than I expected. I'm consistently using it though, and the amount of progress for this update is nearly identical to the last one.

4. L'Oreal Voluminous Full Definition Mascara
I can't see into the tube, but this will be my last update using this product. After two more weeks i'm going to throw this out.

5. Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara
Same as with the L'Oreal mascara, after two more weeks this is getting tossed.

6. Lancome Lash Primer
Same as the L'Oreal and Mary Kay mascaras.

7. Elf Eyebrow Kit
I'm still enjoying this product and find it to look very clean and natural every time that I use it. Even though I use this everyday I still find myself impressed with my progress.

8. NYX Natural Eyeshadow Palette
I've made a lot more progress than I expected! The light beige shade (4th from the left) is probably going to be the first to go. I have completely used up the product on two of the four sides. I need to remember to use the white/cream shade a bit more, because that is the only one where there isn't as much progress.

9. Nivea Kiss of Milk and Honey Soothing Lip Care
I've really slacked on using this for the past two weeks, so I need to keep it on my desk so that I remember to use it.

10. Bite Beauty Luminous Cream Lipstick in "Fig"
Progress here is slow... I don't wear lip colors like this on a daily basis, so it's mainly being used on weekends or for days when I have presentations.

11. Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover
I think it's funny how my progress marks are almost exactly the same! Not much to say about this, it's a great product and once I use my other makeup remover I will most likely repurchase this.

12. Vaseline Healthy Hand and Nail Cream
This is taking forever to get through. I feel like i'm constantly using it, but it doesn't look like there is any progress.

13. Lancome High Resolution Night Cream (FINISHED)

14. Kate Spade "Live Colorfully" Perfume Sample
     Still haven't used this....

15. Calvin Klein "Euphoria" Perfume Sample
I only have about a third of this left, and I can't wait to be done with this. I've decided that the smell is too strong for me, so i'm not a huge fan.

Valentine's Day Fashion

I am a fan of dressing in relatively neutral colors, so every once in a while I enjoy throwing in pops of color. For Valentine's Day I thought it would be fun to style a few outfits that fit my personal style. They're mostly black (because what other color do I wear...) but they feature a statement piece in red or pink. I think this is a great way to get festive without stepping out of your comfort zone.

Outfit #1
Kate Spade Square Studs

Outfit #2
Blazer (Similar)

This Valentine's Day I will be spending it lounging around in yoga pants and working on numerous final projects. I hope everyone has a wonderful day! xoxo

My Makeup Collection: Face

Over the next few days I will be taking you through everything that I have in my makeup collection! I have decided to split this up into three separate posts, one for face products, lip products, and eye products.

My first post is going to be about all of the face products that I own! This is the area in which I have the least amount of products. When I find a foundation, blush, bronzer, etc.. that works well for me I tend to repurchase it and stick to that product alone.

Just a disclaimer: I know that I have more makeup than any person needs to have.. Makeup is something that I enjoy collecting which is why I have accumulated so much. I am working on getting my collection under control!

Primers, Foundation, and Concealer
Maybelline FIT Me Concealer, CoverGirl TruBlend Foundation, ELF Mineral Face Primer, Rimmel BB Cream, Almay Wake Up Foundation, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer

  • ELF Mineral Face Primer in Radiant Glow- Even though this was only $3 it was a waste of money in my opinion. I don't notice any difference when I use it compared to when I don't. I'm trying to finish it up so that I can get rid of it.
  • Rimmel London BB Cream in Light- If you've read my project pan updates you know how I feel about this. The more I use it, the less I enjoy it.
  • CoverGirl TruBlend 410 Classic Ivory- This is a pretty good foundation, it's not the first thing I reach for but when I use it I end up enjoying it.
  • Almay Wake Up Foundation in 010 Ivory- This is my favorite foundation! It matches my skin color perfectly, is hydrating, and does everything I could want it to do. Almay foundation have always been a favorite of mine.
  • Maybelline FIT Me Concealer in 15 Fair- I love this concealer! I explain a little bit more about it in my project pan posts.
  • Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer in Illuminator- Once again, this is another favorite of mine. You can check out my project pan posts for more details on why I enjoy this.

Face Powders
Maybelline Loose Powder, Almay Pressed Powder, ELF High Definition Undereye Setting Powder

  • Maybelline Loose Powder in 01 Light- I use this to "bake" under my eyes. I like it, but my skin is so dry that I avoid using powders all over my face (especially during the winter months).
  • Almay Smart Shade Pressed Powder in 010 Light- I've had this for a while and as you can see, I haven't used a lot. Every once in a while I use it to set my concealer, but I tend to forget that I have it.
  • ELF High Definition Undereye Setting Powder in Sheer- I use this everyday to set my undereye concealer. I was nervous when I first got it, because there is some shimmer in it, but you can't even tell once it's on the skin.

Blush, Bronzer, and Highlighters
Max Studio Baked Blush, YSL Dare to Glow Illuminateur, Wet n Wild ColorIcon Bronzer, ELF Baked Blush, NYX HD Blush, Wet n Wild ColorIcon Blush, NYC Color Wheel

Max Studio Baked Blush, NYC Color
Wheel, Wet n Wild Blush
  • Max Studio Baked Blush- This is a nice blush topper and if I use a light enough hand I can get away with it as a highlight. (There is no name on the packaging)
  • NYC Color Wheel in 723A Pink Cheek Glow- I've had this for a long time, and I enjoy having it in my collection! It's a great color and I enjoy wearing it in the spring and summer months.
  • Wet n Wild ColorIcon Blush in Pearlescent Pink- This is my favorite blush at the moment (I wear it every single day). When I first got it I was terrified to wear it because the formula is so pigmented. It's important to use a light hand because this blush can get out of control quite easily!

Wet n Wild Bronzer, NYX HD Blush
  • Wet n Wild ColorIcon Bronzer in Ticket to Brazil- This is the only bronzer I own for warming up my face. It's the perfect shade and no matter how I apply it, it always looks great. The pan is so big that I can't imagine ever running out of it!
  • NYX HD Blush in Taupe- Even though this is a blush, I use it as my contour shade. It's the perfect cool toned shade so I find that it compliments my skin tone very well.

ELF Baked Blush, YSL Dare to Glow
Illuminater
  • ELF Baked Blush in Pinktastic- Once again, this is another blush that I use for a different purpose! This shade has so much shimmer that it is the PERFECT highlight shade. Whenever I wear it I get so many compliments!
  • YSL Dare to Glow Illuminator in 3 Naughty Pink- I've had this for a while and need to use it more. I'm not a big fan of cream hi lights because I feel like they're a bit too bold on me. I might try using it with some different brushes to see if I can find a way to wear it.

My Nail Polish Collection

The other weekend I spent some time going through everything in my room. I tried to really see what I had and get rid of some of the things that I don't love as much.

When I went through my nail polishes I re-discovered some old colors I really enjoy. Lately i've been painting my nails every 5-7 days, so my collection has been receiving a good amount of love. I currently have 27 nail polishes, although 5 are minis. This is way more than I need, but I do use all of these colors at least once throughout the year.

Keep reading for a look into what colors I have in my collection!

Neutrals

  • Julep Nail Color in Jennifer
  • Nailene Hard & Healthy French Manicure
  • Essie Nail Color in 711 BBF Best Boyfriend
  • Nicole by OPI (name unknown)- this has become my favorite nail color! You can't tell in this picture, but i'm half way done with the bottle. I'm going to be sad once this runs out because it came in a set and I haven't been able to find this color in stores.

Reds and Pinks

  • Sally Hanson Hard as Nails in 520 Walk the Plank
  • Sally Hanson Insta-Dri in 325 Peachy Breeze
  • OPI (name unknown)
  • Nicole by OPI (name unknown)
  • Nicole by OPI (name unknown)
  • Essie Nail Color in 609 Bahama Mama

Purples, Blues, and Greens

  • Julep Nail Color in Quinn
  • L'Oreal Nail Color in 510 Paparazzi Pleaser
  • Essie Nail Color in 856 Warm & Toasty Turtleneck
  • L'Oreal Nail Color in 540 Jet Set to Paris
  • CoverGirl Glosstinis in 535 Blue Hawaiian
  • Essie Nail Color in Fall in Line

Silver, Grey, and Black

  • Sinful Colors Nail Art
  • Julep Nail Color in Missy- This is the best polish for a sparkly accent nail! It's so opaque that you could get away with only one coat.
  • Sally Hanson Insta-Dri in 230 Silver Sweep
  • Julep Nail Color in Lorenzana
  • Sinful Colors in 949 Nirvana
  • Nicole by OPI (name unknown)
  • Revlon Top Speed in 890 Black Magic

Topcoats and Basecoats
These aren't exciting, but I still thought i'd share with you the brands that I use. Every time I paint my nails I use the Sally Hanson Xtreme Wear as a base coat and the Nailene Acrylic Strong for my topcoat. The combination seems to work very well, my nails don't usually chip for 3 or 4 days (that's a long time for me!)

  • Sally Hanson Xtreme Wear in 01 Invisible
  • OPI Top Coat
  • Nailene Acrylic Strong Top Coat
  • Sally Hanson Hard as Nails Strengthener

Visiting The Tomorrow Fund

A week or so ago I was lucky enough to visit the Tomorrow Fund offices with some fellow executive board members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (also known as SAAC).

The Tomorrow Fund is a Rhode Island organization that provides emotional and financial support to children battling cancer at Hasbro's Children's Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. Since they were founded, the Tomorrow Fund has helped over 1,500 children and their families.

We were able to visit because we had been involved in helping a boy collect hats for the organization. He was previously treated at Hasbro's Children's Hospital and received support from the Tomorrow Fund during his treatment there. When he reached out to us about collecting hats, we were all so excited to help out. An important part of SAAC is making sure that we build a connection with the community and give back. Once we started collecting hats we decided that we wanted to make a special event for him and his family. We invited them to attend a basketball game where all of the student-athletes paraded out onto the court with about 250 hats.  He was so surprised and grateful that he ended up inviting us to go with him when he went to bring the hats to the Tomorrow Fund offices.

It was a great experience, especially because I am someone who gets very nervous when I am in hospital settings. This was an opportunity for me to not only learn more about this amazing foundation but to also push myself out of my comfort zone. The facilities they have at the clinic are great, they are decorated with colorful murals and everyone on the staff was so warm and welcoming.

Here is a picture of the JWU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee with Quinn and the Director of the Tomorrow Fund.

How I Keep Myself Organized

School can be stressful enough as it is, but once you factor in clubs, sports, jobs, and everything else that comes along with life it can be very hard to keep things straight. That's why I think it is extremely important that everyone finds a way that helps keep them organized. I realize that not every method works for every person, but I think it's important to try new methods in order to find one that works for you. So today I thought it would be fun to share some of the methods that work best for me!

The most important thing that helps keep me organized is my agenda. Last year I had a Lily Pulitzer large agenda, but it just wasn't large enough for what I needed. Once this school year rolled around I didn't feel like spending $30+ on the jumbo sized agenda. Instead I decided to get just a generic one at Target, and I love it so much more. It's big enough for me to write down everything I need to include (homework, meetings, important events, etc.)

I used to assign a color to each subject, and I would write down any homework or important dates for the class in the coordinating color. However, I noticed that this led me to often wait until later to write assignments down because I couldn't find the correct color, and after leaving the classroom the chance of me writing down the assignment at all became quite slim. So I got rid of that idea! Now I just write everything down in blue pen, and use two different hilighters so separate tasks. If it is an important event, like a test or meeting, I hilight it in orange. For assignments once they are completed I hi light them in yellow.

I have tried so many different methods of organizing my papers and notes. I tried using a separate folder and notebook for each class, binders, accordion folders. In the end, the method that has worked best is to have one 5 subject notebook for all my classes, and a separate folder for each. What I do to take notes is write everything down on a sheet of loose leaf when i'm in class. Then afterwards, I copy everything over in my notebook. This way everything looks neat, but I also am studying everything I learned by re-reading it all.

For outside activities (internships, my blog, etc) I keep separate notebooks for each. This way I can take notes during meetings, write ideas down, and keep everything in one place.

Finally, I use the wall space above my desk to make sure that I always know what is going on. I have a giant wall calendar that I update with all the important due dates and meetings that are listed in my agenda. This way I can easily see what is going on without having to go in my backpack. Below that, I keep sticky notes on the wall with individual tasks that need to get done. They are right at eye level so that everytime I sit down I see them. I've noticed that since i've been doing this I get tasks done a lot faster!

I hope you were able to learn some tips and tricks to help keep you organized!

Project Pan Update #1

After two weeks I have my first update on how my project pan is going! I expected to have made much more progress, but i'm still happy with what i've done! I don't wear makeup every single day, so i'm guessing that is why there isn't too much of a difference.

I'm very excited to say that I have finished up my first product! Last night I used up the very last of my Lancome High Resolution Night Cream. Even though this was only a deluxe sized sample it lasted a decent amount of time. I really enjoyed it, although I would never purchase the full size because it is over $100. Using up my first product has really made me excited to focus on the other products in this project.

Now onto the progress i've made with the remaining 14 products...

1. Rimmel London BB Cream
I've been using this fairly consistently and have decided that I don't like it. The texture is thicker than what I would prefer, it reminds me of a mousse. I'm going to try applying it with a beauty blender and see how I like it that way.

2. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
I think i'm going to have to take the stopper out of this soon, a lot of th product has pooled at the bottom and I can't quite reach it all. I'm very close to finishing this off though!

3. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
This is the product i'm the most surprised with. I use this every day that I wear makeup and twist the product up every time. I expected to have had double the progress. It's probably because the packaging is so much thicker than most of my other concealers (like the Fit Me).

4. L'Oreal Voluminous Full Definition Mascara
Since the tube is opaque I don't know how my progress is going, but I use this even on days I don't wear any other makeup.

5. Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara
I'm going to use this probably for another few weeks or so, the consistency is starting to change which means it will need to be thrown out soon.

6. Lancome Lash Primer
Like the other mascaras, I can't mark my progress on this one. However i've been using it for so long that I imagine it'll be gone relatively soon.

7. ELF Eyebrow Kit
I'm very impressed with my progress! The first picture is where I was two weeks ago, and the second picture is where I am now. Like mascara, I usually fill in my brows no matter how much makeup I am wearing that day. I have fallen in love with this product again after using it so much.

8. NYX Natural Eyeshadow Palette
Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot of progress to show. I've been using the darkest shade to line my lower lash line, and the more neutral shades on my eyes. I think i'm going to have to repress some shades because it is getting hard to pick up product on my brush.

9. Nivea Kiss of Milk and Honey Soothing Lip Care
This is going a lot faster than I expected. I really like this and always carry it on me.

10. Bite Beauty Luminous Cream Lipstick in "Fig"
I've worn this quite a bit, but i've really focused on wearing down the point. There is a tiny bit of progress, but I need to try and incorporate this a bit more.

11. Nitrogen Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover
I'm not surprised with my progress here, I use a decent amount of this everyday that I wear makeup.

12. Vaseline Healthy Hand & Nail Cream
I keep this in my backpack and only use it when my hands feel dry in class, so I need to really focus on using this a bit more. I tend to forget that I have it.

13. Lancome High Resolution Night Cream (FINISHED)

14. Kate Spade "Live Colorfully" Perfume Sample
     I haven't used this yet...

15. Calvin Klein "Euphoria" perfume sample
I've been focusing on this one lately, and I can't really decide it I like it or not. The smell is nice, but it can get quite heavy if you're not careful.
