What I Wore: IFS Fashion Show

Last week the JWU International Fashion Society had our spring fashion show. Every year we host the show to raise money for two charities in addition to showcasing the work of student designers. Last year I had the position of Fashion Show Coordinator, so this year as the treasurer I was able to relax a bit more {although I still found myself running around like a crazy person}. The show was a huge success, and we were able to feature the work of six talented designers while raising over $1,300 for our charities.

I wanted to share the outfit that I wore for the night because I just love it so much {I wore something very similar closing night of StyleWeek}. Most of the pieces are old, but i've linked similar items within a similar price range.

Blazer: Nordstrom
Shirt: Kohl's {old} // Similar
Necklace: Ann Taylor {old} // Similar
Pants: Target {old} // Similar
Shoes: Old Navy {old} // Similar

Here is a group shot of the lovely ladies of the IFS Executive Board. I love these girls and am so glad that we were able to put on such a successful event!

StyleWeek Season 12: Recap

For those of you who don't know, I am an intern assistant at an amazing Rhode Island company called StyleWeek Northeast. Three times a year the company puts on fashion shows featuring various talented designers from the Northeast.

I have interned with StyleWeek for a total of three seasons now. The first two I spent as a regular intern, and this past season I was made the assistant to our Executive Vice President, Amy (pictured below). I've been working with her since my first season at StyleWeek and am so excited that I have been able to become her assistant! I've learned so much thanks to her and the rest of the StyleWeek staff. Throughout the week I also spent a lot of time helping our Blogger and Digital Influencer Liaison, Glori {be sure to check out her amazing blog at http://ginandtopics.co}

A few weeks ago {Feb. 23 - 27} we had our 12th season. It was a week filled with amazing shows, talented designers, and great company. 18 designers showcased their lines at this season, and I can honestly say that I was blown away by the creativity and skill that these designers possess. Below I have included some pictures of my favorite looks from the week.

I am truly blessed to be able to work with such a positive group of people to put on an event that is enjoyed by so many. Already looking forward to next season!

Wishful Wednesday: Cold Shoulder

Now that we are moving towards spring and the warmer weather i'm ready to dress the part! One trend i'm loving at the moment is cold shoulder tops and dresses. It's a fun and flirty way to show some skin without doing anything too bold.

This is the type of shirt I would live in. It looks super comfy and I can just picture wearing it with my favorite pair of jeans and riding boots.

I got a black turtleneck bodysuit earlier in the winter, and i've really enjoyed it. It's perfect for with skirts or jeans because it doesn't ride up. Now that I have one I want more!

     Everything about this dress is perfect! I really like how the top of the dress has the lace panel but still includes the cold shoulder. {This would be the perfect graduation dress!}

This color reminds me of fall... but I still love it.

I recently got a Vince Camuto shirt like this and am in love with it. This is the type of shirt I would wear all the time because it is casual enough that it could be worn everyday, but add a cute necklace and it could easily be dressed up.

Project Pan Update #3

{Since it's been 4 weeks since I last photographed my progress this is going to count as update #3/#4}

I'm super excited to say that I have finished 5 new products! I knew that the mascara's were going to be finished at this time, because I could tell that they were starting to turn. I was surprised with how long the Fit Me Concealer lasted though, I was scraping product off of the sides for weeks! Finally, I finished off the Neutrogena Oil-Free Makeup Remover. This was pretty good, but I felt like I had to use a lot of product to get everything off of my eyes. I'm thinking of trying the Sephora brand remover next because i've heard great things.

1. Rimmel London BB Cream
I thought I made a lot more progress than this, but apparently not... I've been mixing this in with moisturizer and a YSL highlighting cream everyday to help change the texture a little bit. The finish is also more matte than I would like, so the highlighter helps create a dewey look.

2. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer (FINISHED)
Loved this and am already using my backup!

3. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
The use on this is so consistent that i'm surprised (remember, the last mark represents two weeks instead of four). I do think this makes a difference in my under-eye circles so I plan on repurchasing this once it's gone.

4. L'Oreal Voluminous Full Definition Mascara (FINISHED)

5. Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara (FINISHED)

6. Lancome Lash Primer (FINISHED)
I really enjoyed having a primer so I might start looking into some drug store options in the future.

7. Elf Eyebrow Kit
This is another product where i'm surprised how quickly i'm making progress. I tend to do my brows most days of the week, even if i'm not wearing a full face of makeup. The color is a good match, and for $3 it's a great product.

8. NYX Natural Eyeshadow Palette
I'm making really good progress on the peach and beige shades, i'm even noticing a slightly bigger amount of pan in the white shade! I need to start using the darker colors on a regular basis and figure out a better way to incorporate the white shade (at the moment I only use it as a brow bone highlight).

9. Nivea Kiss of Milk and Honey Soothing Lip Care

10. Bite Beauty Luminous Cream Lipstick in "Fig"
I wore this almost every night of StyleWeek so I thought I would see more improvement. This product is turning out to be harder than I thought, because I don't wear it consistently.

11. Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover (FINISHED)

12. Vaseline Healthy Hand and Nail Cream
Lately my hands have been super dry, so i'm using this once or twice a day! I really like how it's not scented so I can use it in class without people smelling it across the room.

13. Lancome High Resolution Night Cream (FINISHED)

14. Kate Spade "Live Colorfully" Perfume Sample
Still haven't started this although by the next update i'll have used it a few times.

15. Calvin Klein "Euphoria" Perfume Sample
I've decided I hate this scent. It's way too strong and i'm kind of over it... can't wait for this to be gone.

My Makeup Collection: Lips

Time for the final installment of my makeup collection! This post will cover all of the lip products I own. Due to the large number of items I won't be going into detail on every single one.

Lipstick is where I tend to struggle, I love to purchase new shades and am constantly adding new products to my collection. I'd like to go through quite a few of these products before I purchase any new ones, although i'm not sure how successful I will be with that...

Just a disclaimer: I know that I have more makeup than any person needs to have.. Makeup is something that I enjoy collecting which is why I have accumulated so much. I am working on getting my collection under control!

First up I have all of my chapsticks and lip balms. This is excessive, I know. A lot of these I received as gifts, so I've only actually paid for a few of these.
  • Carmex Original Lip Balm- This stuff is what I consider to be heavy duty. It's super thick but works really well! I keep this in my desk and use it a lot during the winter months.
  • Lypsyl Lypmoisturizer Lip Balm
  • Nivea Lip Butter: Vanilla and Macadamia Kiss- This is another really thick formula, but I really enjoy it! I keep it on my bedside table and use it at night before bed.
  • EOS Lip Balm - I own 6 of these and really need to work on using them up...
  • Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm
  • Baby Lips in 05 Quenched
  • Nivea A Kiss of Milk and Honey- This is my favorite lip balm at the moment and is a part of my first Project Pan.
  • Baby Lips in 30 Peach Kiss- This has a really nice tint to it, I always forget that I enjoy how it looks on my lips.

  • Milani Color Statement LipLiner in 03 Nude- This is my favorite lip liner and I find myself using it at least a few times a week. I either wear it under lipstick, lipgloss, or even on its own. Once this is gone I plan on repurchasing!
  • Essence LipLiner in 12 Wish Me A Rose
  • Kiko Smart Lip Pencil in 703

  • Stila Magnificent Metals Lip Gloss in Rose Quartz
  • Maybelline Color Elixir in 520 Pearlescent Peach- This looks so good paired with my Bite Beauty lipstick in Fig!
  • NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in 02 Stockholm- It took me almost two months before I finally purchased this and i'm so glad I did. The formula is so comfortable and the color is perfect for everyday wear.
  • NYX Butter Gloss in 05 Creme Brûlée
  • CoverGirl Wetslicks in 340 Potently Pink

  • Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in 001 Honey
  • NYC CityProof Twistable Crayon in 011 Brooklyn Brown Stone
  • NYC CityProof Twistable Crayon in 021 Parsons Pink
  • Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in 010 Darling- This doesn't look like a very wearable color, but it's a stain so it ends up looking lovely on the lips.
  • Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien
  • Narvs Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella- When I got this pencil I didn't think I would use it, but i'm actually almost done with it! The formula is so nice, but Nars is a little out of my price range so I won't be purchasing it anytime soon.

  • CoverGirl Lipstick in 260 Heavenly
  • Essense Lipstick in 11 Nude Love
  • Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in 047 Pink Lemonade- This is one of my favorite lipsticks that I own. It's such a sheer wash of color and so hydrating.
  • Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede in 020 Front Row
  • Essence Lipstick in 07 Natural Beauty
  • Victoria's Secret Color Drama Lipstick in True
  • Bite Beauty Dual Ended Luminous Creme Lipstick in Fig and Date- I'm working on Fig in one of my project pans at the moment and haven't grown sick of it yet. These are such nice quality and I really want to purchase a full size bite beauty product once i've used up a lot of my items.

  • Elf Moisturizing Lipstick in Rosy Go Round
  • Almay Smart Shade Butter Kiss in 10 Berry Light- This is another one of my favorites, the color is very buildable so you can achieve a sheer wash of color or a fairly dark lip.
  • LA Colors Lipstick in Mauve Glaze
  • Wet n Wild Lipstick in 522A Dark Wine
  • L'oreal Colour Rich in 407 Liya's Red- This was sent to me by a friend and I am so excited to wear it out. I plan on wearing it this week while i'm working a StyleWeek Providence event.
  • Marc Jacobs Lip Creme in 216 Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Wishful Wednesday: Mad for MAC

Like most people who are big on makeup, i'm quite the fan of MAC Cosmetics. While i've only ever owned two products from this company (RIP to the MAC Lipstick in "Faux" I lost on Christmas Eve...) I always find myself checking out their website for all of the products they have to offer.

This leads to this weeks Wishful Wednesday which is all about the 8 MAC products I currently have my eye on!

I don't think this color would be flattering on me, i'm a fan of nude lipsticks but have a really hard time finding one that works with my skin tone. I've seen this particular shade on quite a few YouTubers with similar skin tones, so i'd like to stop at the MAC counter and check it out for myself soon!

Lately i've been super into lip glosses, and look at how beautiful this color is! It's the perfect everyday pink.

It seems like everyone I know owns this color, and there's a good reason for it- this color is stunning. It's the perfect blue-toned red, which is always good because blue-tones help make the teeth look whiter. Lately i've been wearing red lipstick a bit more, so I think this would be a good option to have.

This is a cult favorite and that really intrigues me. It's supposed to be one of the best pinkish-brown liner which is the lip color I wear most often. One thing I love about lip liners is that they are so versatile; you can wear them under a lipstick, all over the lip, or underneath a lipgloss.

I love neutral eyeshadows, and the colors in this palette could be used for so many different looks. It also comes with matte, satin, metallic, and many other eyeshadow formulas which is a huge plus in my opinion. I always find myself switching between palettes for matte and shimmery shades, so it's nice that this one has it all.

I've wanted this for so long, and depending on how I do with my project pan I might purchase the travel size one. There are just so many uses for this product and i'm dying to use it to foil some eyeshadows I have in my collection.

I'm not a huge blush person, I only really have two different ones in my collection. That doesn't mean that I don't love looking at them though. This color reminds me of spring and is something that I could see myself wearing daily.

For my last product I chose yet another cult favorite. This highlighter has been a fan of Beauty Guru's for years and it looks so gorgeous on fair skin tones. I'm not a huge highlighter person so chances are I will never purchase this, but it sure is nice to admire.

Wishful Wednesday: Over-The-Knee-Boots

I have decided to create a new weekly feature on my blog titled "Wishful Wednesday". As a {broke} college student I find myself wanting a lot of things that I can't have. Instead of just keeping these items in my online shopping carts, I thought it would be fun to share what i'm wishing for with all of you.

This Wednesday i'm talking about Over-The-Knee Boots. I am a huge fan of boots, and I tend to wear them until they get holes in the bottom (whoops). However, a style of boots that I have never owned are over-the-knee boots. These boots have been popular for a few months now, but like usual i'm a little late to the party. When it comes to these shoes, I tend to prefer the suede material. I think they look chic and a bit more polished as compared to leather boots in the same style.

Even though these aren't technically over-the-knee boots I decided to include them because they are pretty close to it. I also love the color of these and couldn't find anything else similar to them.

These boots are WAY out of my price range, but they are one of the most beautiful pairs of boots that I have ever seen. Everything about them screams perfection- from the height of the heel to the lovely grey color.

It's nice that these boots have a zipper at the instep to help make getting them on and off easier. I also really like the heel height, i'm not a huge fan of boots where the sole is fairly flat, so the height on these is perfect for everyday wear.

While i'm not one to wear a stiletto boot on a regular basis, I think that these are great! They can easily be dressed up or down, and the color is perfect for everyday.

I had mentioned that I preferred suede boots in this style, but I couldn't resist putting this leather pair in here. I think they are very well done with the buckles. It makes for a very classic look.

This is a fabulous pair of boots if you ask me. I love how chunky the heel is, and the height is perfect for walking around in. The leather in the front and suede in the back adds a very nice contrast.

The color of these is what attracted me to them. It's a very unique shade and I can picture these being worn with so many spring and fall outfits. I also really enjoy the contrast between the color of the boot and the wooden color of the heel.

This is the type of shoe that I would wear into the ground. It's simple and can easily be dressed up or down. I really like these boots that have the stretchy black panels in the back, this ensures that the boot will fit your calf perfectly. There is nothing I hate more than when there is a big gap between my boots and my calf...

Which style of boots are your favorite?
